In early 2023, the Ministry for Culture & Heritage approached us to produce 500 sets of custom playing cards and cartons for the Te Matatini Kapa Haka Festival — a nationwide celebration of Māori performing arts. The cards were designed as a giveaway educational tool for festival attendees. The Ministry needed premium print quality, durable materials and a partner who could deliver on a tight deadline.

We digitally printed 36 unique card designs per set on sturdy 350gsm Silk Matt board, ensuring a smooth, high-quality finish that feels great in hand. Each card was precision die-cut with rounded corners using our standing cutting dies, then paired with matching cartons printed on 300gsm Silk Matt. The cartons were glued, assembled and packed ready for distribution — all within just five working days from order to delivery.

From accurate colour reproduction to consistent cutting and assembly, every detail was handled in-house for maximum quality control. This project shows what’s possible when cultural storytelling meets precision print.
