The MacDiarmid Institute is New Zealand’s leading Centre of Research Excellence, specialising in advanced materials and nanotechnology. The Institute needed a trusted print partner to produce their annual reports, key documents that showcase their groundbreaking research and significant contributions to science and innovation. With design crafted by Gary at the Gas Project, these reports required precision quality to reflect the professionalism and precision of the Institute’s work.

For the 2017, 2018, and 2019 reports, we digitally printed on Advance Laser stock, selected for its sharp finish and reliable colour consistency. The covers used 240gsm paper for durability, while the internal pages were printed on a lighter 120gsm stock, balancing quality with ease of handling. Perfect binding gave the 2018 and 2019 editions a clean, professional look, while the 2017 report featured a sewn open bind with an exposed spine—highlighting the craftsmanship involved. Using our Ricoh C9100 press ensured vibrant, consistent CMYK colour reproduction, perfectly suited to the detailed infographics and images that bring the reports to life.

Each year, we worked closely with the client to prepare print-ready files, provide proof approvals, and meet delivery schedules. The collaboration ensured every page was crisp and the final product aligned with the Institute’s high standards.
