Two Formats, One Vision: Custom Typography Specimen for Eliza
When third-year design student Eliza Rogers needed her typography specimen printed to a professional standard, her lecturer pointed her straight to us. Titled ‘Twenty Typefaces That Changed the World’, Eliza’s project showcased not only design history but her own capability to think, curate and execute at a high level. She wanted the final print to reflect that same polish — and we delivered.
Two-Part Print That Worked in Tandem
This project was split into two complementary pieces: a larger 200 x 290mm perfect bound book, and a smaller A5 saddle-stapled booklet, designed to sit neatly inside. The larger document included a die-cut slit and pocket on the inside front cover — built to house the smaller booklet. Clean, intentional, and user-focused.
We ran the job on our Ricoh C9100 digital press, choosing Advance Laser stock for its smooth finish and sharp print quality — 300gsm for covers and 120gsm internally.
Custom Finish, Student Budget
Eliza took it one step further and laser-cut the A5 booklet cover herself. A smart move that gave the piece an edge — literally — while keeping production costs student-friendly. We handled the rest: precise trimming, staple stitching, and the perfect binding (completed by Andrew at Book Binding Etc) for a finish that looked anything but DIY.
