Premium Student Work, Done Right: Aimee’s Typographic Specimen Booklet
Aimee a typography student came to us with a clear brief and a beautifully designed type specimen project part of her final hand-in for Massey University. She’d heard from her tutor that we were the go-to team for high-quality student work. And she wasn’t wrong. From the moment we saw her files, we knew this wasn’t a job for cheap paper and basic finishing.
To do the design justice, we printed her covers in solid white ink onto rich, velvety 300gsm Notturno Black card — a premium Italian board chosen for its depth of colour and texture. Inside, we used a mix of 128gsm Silk Matt (for colour accuracy), pearlescent, and transparent sheets to give contrast and rhythm across the 84 internal pages. Every section was imposed and supplied as flat, nested sets — ready for hand binding with exposed Coptic stitching by the talented Susan at Peacock Bindery.
The result? A piece that feels more like an art book than a student project. It’s tactile, layered and shows off Aimee’s type work with the clarity and presence it deserves.
Printing high-end student projects like this is something we genuinely enjoy and take just as seriously as any commercial job.
