Luxury in the Details: Gold Foil Save the Date Cards for Jack & Maggie

When Jack & Maggie started planning their wedding, they had a clear vision: no generic invites—something bold, timeless, and remarkable. They were referred to us by another print shop that couldn’t produce the order and we were more than happy to step in. What they wanted was deceptively simple: a completely unprinted black card with all design elements done in gold foil. Clean. Minimal. Timeless.

We used 350gsm Notturno a premium deep black Italian board, chosen for its matte texture and rich colour that runs through the sheet. It’s a true luxury stock and pairs beautifully with hot foil. The cards were 148mm square, finished entirely in gold foil with no ink at all. That meant every graphic element, text, layout, accents had to be pressed in foil with complete precision.

Foiling like this isn’t for the faint of heart or budget. The process requires us to machine a custom metal block, dial in precise pressure and heat, and run each card through. It’s not cheap. Setup alone can run close to $500, which is why we only recommend this approach for clients who are absolutely committed to the look and are okay with the per-unit cost that comes with short runs. For those working to a tighter budget, we’ve got beautiful alternatives in our wedding stationery range that deliver high impact without the high spend.

Dreaming of something just as bold for your big day?, or want to find the right balance of wow factor and cost? Let’s talk. We’ll give you honest advice and a tailored quote with no pressure.
