When Earth Sciences New Zealand (formerly GNS Science) needed a set of tough, functional notebooks for their field teams and outreach efforts, they came to us. With over 150 years of applied science behind them, from seismic monitoring to marine research, they needed a product that was practical, portable and professional. These notebooks had to hold up to field use, feel premium in hand and reflect the credibility of New Zealand’s top-tier earth and water science authority.

We took that brief and delivered. The finished product: 1000 sleek A6 notebooks, screen printed in white ink onto rich black 250gsm Notturno stock, an uncoated premium paper known for both durability and texture. Inside, the 36 internal pages were digitally printed on 100gsm Advance Laser, featuring a 5mm dot grid—ideal for diagrams, sketches, and real-time observations in the field. Binding was kept simple and cost-effective with a clean saddle-stitch, creased and trimmed to size for pocket carry.
